Les Misérables

From the theatres of the world....

  To Thornbury's own Stage!

This epic musical was in its 20th year on the West End Stage when over fifty students of the Northavon Youth Theatre Company first brought it to life in Thornbury's Armstrong Hall and now you have an unenviable chance to see a new version of the production.

This slightly abridged version not only presents an incredible challenge to our Lighting, Set Design and Construction, Wardrobe, Make Up and Music personnel, but also afforded an amazing and unique opportunity to these young people aged 11 to 18!

Set in the 19th Century and based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Misérables is the story of an ordinary man (Jean Valjean), who has been emasculated and deprived of human emotion  by the harsh treatment he has received.  All this changes as a result of a chance encounter with 'a man of God' and the rest of his life is chronicled against a background of unrest and insurrection, caused by extreme poverty and hunger.
